Journey now out on steam

You can buy Journey on sale for $11.24 on Steam, till July 5The original list price of the game was $15. Journey is also part of the phenomenal Annapurna Interactive Collection bundle on Steam, which gets you a truly stellar group of games like Florence, If Found, What Remains of Edith Finch, and Telling Lies for $142.33, 10% off its $158.12 list price. Although the discount is not much, for the first-timers is a great deal and you really should try these if you have not till now.

A journey was co-developed by Thatgamecompany and Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The journey was the last game made under a three-game contract between Thatgamecompany and Sony Computer Entertainment, the first two being Flow and Flower. The development of the game began in 2009, after the release of Flower. The makers of the game are giving some very generous offers with games. If you are buying Journey on Stream within its two weeks of arrival on the platform, you will receive a free copy of Flower, created by the same studio, Thatgamecompany. It is a great deal since Flower itself costs $7 and you get to have both games at a price of one.

The player in the game controls a robed figure in a vast desert, traveling towards a mountain in the distance. During the course of the journey, he meets other players as well and they can assist each other but there is a catch. They can’t communicate via any text or speech and know each others’ names till after the game credits. Another thing that is interesting about the game is that they can only use music chimes to communicate which transforms dull pieces of cloth found throughout the levels into vibrant red, affecting the game world and allowing the player to progress through the levels.

The music, composed by Austin Wintory, dynamically responds to the player’s actions, building a single theme to represent the game’s emotional arc throughout the story.

While all the figures generally look the same, without distinguishing characteristics, individual players can be told apart by unique symbols which are shown floating in the air when they sing and are displayed on their robes at all times. The entire game takes about two to three hours to complete. In 2019, Journey was ranked 48th on The Guardian newspaper’s The 50 Best Video Games of the 21st Century list. The game was praised by the reviewers gaining critical acclaim.
